You don't have to go that far back, just look at the Sixers five years ago, the Raptors and Hornets 6 years ago...teams had no shooters and shot so many bricks. Game was ugly to watch.

This is better IMO

Seen Dwade throwing them thangs up now. Lets me know the league way different. That nikka shot less than 10 3s in a season.

A nikka like Kobe was in paradise his final season. Dude was so :flabbynsick: just chucking 3s like nobodies business.

I didn't like the brickfests from back in the day...but they keep on tweaking the game to cater to the offensive side and it's starting to make the game today look kinda gimmicky. That gotta give the defense something.

Went to a magic knicks game early 00s where the final score was like 79 68. At the time it was the worst shooting pct in magic history

Got on my feet and started booing halfway through the 2nd. People felt my pain, tmac ended up complaining to reporters about being booed in his home arena. That game was horrible i still want my money back for that nonsense

Over time i see a lot of revisionist history with the nba. The 90s was not a golden era, i remember during the 94 finals sports illustrated running a cover story asking who got next, nba or nhl? That was a legit question in media circles back then but to let people tell it my grant hill pistons were "contenders" :mjlol:
The majority of this board's userbase grew up on mid-90s early 00s ball and are nostalgic as fukk about it....those low-scoring slugfests are all they know. Talking "back in my day" and how the scoring nowadays is a b*stardization of the game... when the 70s and 80s had the same scoring as today.

Yeah let’s go back to the ‘90s when teams actually played defense.

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns Box Score, November 10, 1990 | Basketball-Reference.com

:skip:

The 1990-1991 nuggets have 3 of the highest scoring games in nba history , they had the highest scoring offense in the nba & the fastest pace. They had the worst defense in the league, paul westhead ran that gimmick run n gun offense this team was trash.

this is an anomaly not the trend. This same nuggets team would have the #1 pace in 2018-2019

no they're not

what's better is technology and as a result of that data and research are better. More tools are developed to show tendencies, players likes dislikes etc... travel is better nutrition and training is better as a result of technology making things like that easily researchable.

Yes they are, name a 90's player that was similar to greek freak, durant and anthony davis.

The 80s had the same fukking scores, breh. Y'all have such narrow memories, like the mid-90s was the only era of basketball or something.
no they didnt. every team wasnt scoring 100 every night. it wasnt even like this last year.

Personally i like high scoring teams that turn up defensively against each other, where a 3-4 possession run is actually hype because the defenses adjust quickly

Golden State completely bodying teams for 3 quarters then coasting made me indifferent to these ridiculous offensive stats

nikka obliterated his own 3pt record and they went 73-9....westbrook turns around and averages a triple double for the entire season....anything short of nikkas dunking from the 3point line or putting up 30/20/20 type of performances aint impressing me anymore :hubie: numb to it

Besides, it be the defensive nikkas who bring the fukkery to the league
