They were easy to make (about 25 episodes a year), could be watched any time without having to worry about story arcs or continuity, and they were accessible enough for the whole family to enjoy. For a lot of people, watching these shows every week was a tradition. I think TV is suffering from not having more of them.

That's why I'm glad Abbott Elementary blew up because it's the first traditional sitcom to get this much attention in years. Nowadays, most comedies are 50% drama or they're art pieces. But everyone grew up watching sitcoms.

There could be a thread about which character was better. Same character/Different actor.

The 2 Aunt Vivians
The 2 Lionels for the Jeffersons
Those blondes from Roseanne

Yea they def made the right choice. John Posey is a good actor and a TV veteran but he worked better as a dramatic actor.

Bob Saget had a much more natural chemistry with the cast and his relaxed demeanor was a nice contrast to Stamos and Couliers more frantic energy and he had better chemistry with the children.
