I don't know how similar Marine Corps boot camp is to the movie today, but in 1996 it wasn't too far off. I watched it before I left and I thought nah this just a movie. Then I arrived at MCRD San Diego, the bus door opens and immediately they are on your azz. From the yellow footprints to graduation day 3 months later they cut you no slack. I got back home on leave afterwards and everyone was asking how was it. I would just tell them to watch the boot camp part of FMJ because it was still like that. When you 1st get there the drill instructor is like :demonic:

And you're :damn:

And ain't shyt you can do.
did you sing all those miltary songs while running etc?

Boot camp was easy. Just keep your mouth shut and do exactly what you are told....and you will be practically invisible. "Tim Duncan" your way through basic training.

The worst thing you can do is do anything to get on their bad side. It's a hole that is hard to get out of.

The only deterrent was lack of sleep. 6 hours per night except for Sundays.
