Conspiracy theory: dude was a mule (transporter) for a drug dealer. He moved some major product. He got paid off over $100,000. Dude is usually a normal guy with a regular job so he pays taxes. He had to cover for this big windfall because he's got regular bills and stuff, but didn't know how to launder it fast. He comes up with the idea for a fake kickstarter program. Funds most of it by himself. Pays for the donations by himself. Puts down the donation on his tax return form as income. Money appears clean.

Conspiracy theory 2:dude is a dealer. He tells buyers to pay him through his kickstarter project. He makes package transactions after payments are verified. Dude transfers money from kickstarter to his bank account. Money appears clean to the IRS.
