But on the reciprocal, if NY radio gets behind a song and really plays, the masses will enjoy it. It works both ways.

We've seen radio/media work the hell out of a song that got little to no warm reception when it came out, until it did.

This right here. Alot cats really exposing themselves in this thread. Flex plays hot garbage on a weekly basis, so why are so many people in here pretending that the supposed quality of Math's music or any other artist not in rotation is the reason for their lack of spins?

This thread is just example # 2,789,083 of The Coli's never-ending theme of "let's shyt on NY/East Coast/boom-bap/'old-head' music for shyts and giggles".

Yes, Funkmaster Flex of all people plays nothing but bangers. It's must listen radio. Don't miss it!

No disrespect to you but this is bullshyt.

Pete Rock, Heatmakerz, RZA, Trackmasters & Swizz were all at one point “The NY Sound” yet there isn’t much overlap in each of their signatures. Every 2-3 years things would change AS IT SHOULD

The kids are trying to define themselves nowadays and I could have sworn that’s what a thriving music scene should be

Why should it go back to some DITC Duckdown anymore than it should Dame Grease or Marley Marl

Old nikkax want familiarity whereas young nikkax take risk

Let the kids define themselves
Are you from there? NYC radio plays like 80% South music. It's not bullshyt at all. The radio is at its smallest importance, but how are you going to gain traction to the everyday Joes out here when your own city's radio won't play people from the city? Which is 100 times crazier when the city is NYC. The Telecommunications Act of 95 and corporations phasing in ignant South music is what fukked up NYC rap. Where did anyone say the sound shouldn't evolve?

I’m from there
These nikkax are stuck in 3-4 year period of rap
Nobody said it was easy
The carpet will not be rolled out for you
If they haven’t figured it out yet they’re where they need to be
Figure out social media or don’t

I actually agree, but you can't pretend nikkas shouldn't feel a way getting no love at home.

NY is a wild place. Most nikkax who grow up here couldnt afford to buy a home here. The Money City…and trust me when I say the shyt is about business more than music than its ever been. That’s why the radio sounds like that. Market research says nikkax want to hear that

Again, The Telecommunications Act of 95. All the radio stations are owned by 3 companies now, and no regulation of the labels interfering.

I dig but think about it this way. The Internet got poppin in the mid 90s right? Wouldn’t we sound crazy in 2022 claiming our quality of life has been hindered by the Internet? I would imagine an adjustment had to be made at some point. How can nikkax have daily exposure to their business yet still not know how to navigate it after almost 30 years since an overhaul occurred?

Math makes terrible music. His delivery is literally trash
Rappers are the least self aware people in the world. I done heard Math dis classic albums and much better rappers. It’s like these coli rappers that dis a album like Kingdom Come but can’t even make a better song than Ghetto Techno :mjlol:

It's not just about the quality of music though. Not only is Math's music trash but it sounds like some dated generic bullshyt you would hear on a struggle mixtape in 2004. Yeah there's plenty of wack songs that get radio play but at least they sound modern and fit with what listeners want from radio songs.

Flex ain't even have to type all that out. Should have just been like, "I didn't play it because it's trash"
