You need everyone to be on their purpose if you do something like this as a community.

Everyone would also need a Plan B and C in case they lose their income.

You also don't want some you trust to leave and now you gotta vet anyone would wants to buy the next house.

Doable, but so many contracts would have to be signed.:wow:

would Have to be like a time share or Co-op. Can’t sell your house without board approval. New buyers have to be vetted. It would also be interesting to bet those in interracial marriages. They’d have to be excluded but I don’t believe you can legally do that when it comes to housing. You’d have to make it uncomfortable for them.

I kinda doubt it, many people brag about the concrete jungle, which I can understand. Maybe when you in your 40s then you move into something like this.

If I had to choose I'd probably be in the city till my mid 30s then move and get away from it all. The city life seems to take a toll on you.

These will be ppl currently living in the city but have money for second property.

These bytches got an Aga. :noah: Let's you know everything you need to know about them.

But forreal, this couple is obviously very well-to-do.

I personally like the idea of balance. Maintaining a certain level of both city and country/off the grid living. I thrive off a certain pace of life but also recognize the importance of slowing things down for self care.

I think getting back in tune with the earth is very important for the health and wellness of black men. Hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, climbing are shyt black men need to get more into.

I don't care for the design of the house but it's a nice setup with the bunker on the land with access to the forest, streams, inlets, etc.

Wonderful thread OP!
I wonder if a community could be started using sou sou type financial set up?:jbhmm: It just takes a lot of trust.
Susu (informal loan club) - Wikipedia

that would be interesting. i read in Kenya where they have had electronic payments via phones for over a decade, they can get micro-loans almost instantly from their mobile money account. the lenders systems automatically analyze the cash flows of the account to see if they are risky or not for loans. so for example a vegetable seller can get a quick microloan to buy from a farmer.

im sure peer to peer microlending via tech platforms that analyze the risk of lending will expand in the future, too.

I work remote now in digital marketing. If you could find enough folks with a remote work salary to supplement the income needed for the infrastructure, it could definitely work.

That is the first group of ppl that will drive this revolution. And that’s exactly what it will be. Especially if Basic income is implemented. Going ultra rural isn’t for everyone so you’ll see a lot of this popping up within say 100 miles of big cities. Living in Chicago is amazing but there are a lot of people who maybe only come to the city once a month or maybe once every cpl or weeks. Or say someone who is either 100% remote work or maybe they really only need to come to the city for important client meetings.

I think people are ignoring some pretty seismic shifts in personal sensibilities. It’s much easier to see if you live in a big city. All these dudes that are growing beards, getting into woodworking, guns/tactical everything, self sufficiency etc. These people have money, are mobile, and have unlimited sources of creating communities of like minded ppl.

I'm based in Chicago too at a tech start-up, so I fully see the vision you're projecting. It'll be interesting to see how it materializes over time.

I'm actually talking to a couple folks in the modular industry here in Chicago to see if they'd be willing to provide a few units to determine feasibility.

Chicago is a natural starting point. I mean Chicagoans basically own a lot of those cities in Michigan/Indiana along the lake. But if you go half an hour or more due East the land is pretty cheap. You're going to see Indiana boom bc Michigan is a little pricier. In Illinois, lot of people were buying abt an hour or so south in Kankakee etc, but not sure if that might change if they end up building the airport in Peotone.
