Emcees are supposed to move the crowd. You can move the crowd without being super technical. Actually nikkas who aren’t move the crowd better.

You put on some lyrical miracle nikka and people will stand there stone faced but put on future and he gone get them turnt.
i dont think future could even spell emcee. not even the abbreviated version

hes all right but its definitely 'turn off your brain'/drug music

you really in here talking about moving the crowd :mjlol: like future gives a shyt about the pillars of hip hop hahahaha

that was a good one!

I agree in some ways. There's cases where that is true but I think you're oversimplfying it a lil bit

It's like with cooking. Every recipe doesn't call for a lot to make something good. The best chefs, and rappers alike, know when to ease it back and when to go all out

It's all about what suits the song. Writing is not easy. Songwriting is no different. However, being extremely wordy doesn't make for good writing on its own. Same as simple writing doesn't automatically mean bad or amateur. However, it is objectively harder to write something complex, even if flawed. Though simple shyt can be harder than a non-writer would think, we still have to acknowledge the fact that some people literally be on some Dr. Seuss, mother Goose type shyt :russ:

The goal of rapping should be to communicate an idea with style and rhythm. How a rapper chooses to accomplish that goal is up to their interpretation. I consider lyricism to be a composite of everything in a rapper's skillset. And I think discussion would be better if people analyzed rappers on how effectively they utilize their skillset instead of comparing everyone to a loosely defined and often contradictory criteria of what lyricism is supposed to be.

Top 10 of that mumble sub genre for sure.

I don't consider brehs like Future/Thug actual rappers :yeshrug: I appreciate what they do though.

Hip Hop artist? Maybe.

But as an emcee/lyricist? Not even top 50.

Depends on the criteria really.
