Even if they're a "professional" they're a professional MFer with an opinion just like anyone else

I mean why do you read reviews? Not a smartass/rhetorical question some insight would be dope

The fact that yall are so out of sorts about dudes reviews = clearly being touched

I mean can u even argue w/any of his gripes on GFID?

People only wanna hear shyt that confirms their opinions
exactly

like I dont agree with a lot of his shyt. but its still interesting what he has to say. like he scored the lil b album light 0 out of 10  but he said lots of things I agreed on with him.

but thats the point, learn to listen for yourself. gone are times when u need a review to tell you whats good or not. just listen yourself.

why get mad when someone has a different opinion ?

thats why byron crawford like 5-6 years ago was a great :troll: blogger, hed just get everyone mad cuz it seemed he didnt like a single album he was reviewing. dude even got bun b mad, and bun is everyones friend

i like to read and watch reviews to see what other people think about something. it wont change my view, i enjoy alot of shyt other people just dont like, but its always interesting to know how someone else feels.

like sometimes i completely disagree with a review but i can see where they are coming from because they actually explain it, other times i completely disagree and might think they just straight up hating or straight up dikkriding. and sometimes reviewers say, "well i liked the album but i didn't like this and this and this" and they spend most of the review talking about what they didn't like and turn aound and give it a high rating and im like "what the fuk?". and sometimes i agree with the review and the rating and it kinda suprises me that someone else feels the same way i do. its always a good feeling to find someone who agrees with you. and then there are times when they say something that i didn't even realize and it might make me go back and check it and appreciate it more.

basically i check review to hear other peoples perspectives, it doesn't mean im gonna agree or think their opinion is any better than mine, its just interesting to compare.

why do you read reviews?

Because

some insight would be dope

Most Rick Ross fans... shyt most RAP fans ONLY value shyt like "street credibility" or "how a rapper dresses/looks" or a rapper's skin color or a rapper's affiliations... you know, shyt that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the music

Sometimes it is good to hear someone call it how they see it, MUSICALLY, w/o fear of backlash from the bullshyt "hip hop community"

Lot of the dudes who are mad at this guys reviews disagree with him because his opinions don't line up with theirs... and he is not like them... that is the ultimate in hoeism to me. How insecure in your tastes do you have to be that you get ANGRY when someone has a different take on an album than you do, even when they break down why in a clear manner?

The crying over this review really cuts to one of the biggest problems in hip hop right now... nikkas can't discuss music anymore, all you are allowed to do is make a hollow light cosign.... if ur not feeling something u have to keep quiet. "The wack shall inherit the game"

False.

I myself dont take him serious because he is not apart of this culture. I mean he's free to express his opinion its just that his words hold no validity to me. U can tell (especially with the LIG review) that's he just regurgitating factoids that he learned about Nas, he wasn't actually reviewing the music, he just wanted to make it sound like he knew what he was talkin about.

That's a problem i have with a lot of CACs when it comes to hiphop. Y'all dont FEEL the music like a brother does, it almost sounds like y'all be reading from a history book when y'all talk about hiphop music. And just like a true hipster CAC he only likes hiphop albums that are "safe" choices, basically hiphop music that has already been given the
"classic" stamp by real hiphop heads. CACs like Needledrop cannot think for themselves when it comes to hiphop, they only give praise to albums that are already certified.

Who gets to make that decision? You?

I mean he's free to express his opinion its just that his words hold no validity to me.
Then why even bother talking about him?

I can't say whether thats true or not (just as you can't), but if it is, at least dude made an effort to learn dude's history. You got a lot of kids who are "a part of the culture" who :pacspit: at anything before C3, why do they get a pass?

That's a problem i have with a lot of CACs when it comes to hiphop. Y'all dont FEEL the music like a brother does, it almost sounds like y'all be reading from a history book when y'all talk about hiphop music.
This is a pure copout for a weak disc.... dude broke down (moreso w/GFID) what he did and didn't like about the album objectively... rather than counter any of the FACTS he states, you run behind a "well white people cannot 'feel' music". If you knew that going in, why did you even bother to listen to his review? Would you be saying that if dude had given them ratings you agreed with? :comeon:

And just like a true hipster CAC he only likes hiphop albums that are "safe" choices, basically hiphop music that has already been given the "classic" stamp by real hiphop heads. CACs like Needledrop cannot think for themselves when it comes to hiphop, they only give praise to albums that are already certified.

And nikkas don't run behind safe choices?

You are here defending two albums w/a lot of outright objective flaws/problems... why? Because Nas is a legend u feel like u cant disrespect who dropped a half-decent disc, and because Ross, a dude who spits nothing but fabrications and repetitive surface level kingpin musings, apparently makes music for "real nikkas"

Black hip hop fans these days are the ones making the safe choices, that is why dudes like Ross continue to flourish... nikkas feel like they have to like it. Anything outside of the mainstream = :rudy: "nikka that aint real nikka shyt, put that Ross back on" :pachaha:

Dont be so angry. Its obvious that u and "Needle" relate to eachother on some level so apparently he makes these reviews for ppl like u. Im glad that u have someone u can relate to to review this music for u.

Me.

Nah i would never take anything serious that this guy has to say about hiphop. Imagine him reviewing Untitled, or Aquemini, or hell ANY Scarface album WHEN THEY WERE FIRST RELEASED. I can guarantee u he would shyt on all of them.

TO ME and the culture im apart of, this guy and anyone who agrees with him about hiphop music is an OUTSIDER.

What he is, is not in the recipe to who i am.....and im proud of that :obama:

Lol... so anyone who doesn't share your opinions... isnt credible

You sound like a Republican

I dont even rock w/dude like that... but I take the opinion of someone who can back it up w/logical arguments and facts more seriously than someone who hides behind misused terms like "culture" and "real"

Youre talking about a dude whose whole image is lying about and celebrating profiting from poisoning his community with pride :what: Thats the "culture" you celebrate? I mean the shyt is entertaining, but when you really look at it its pretty ridiculous, but if someone says that "they arent a part of the culture". Maybe the culture is fukked up then

I can only speak for myself and my surroundings. He isn't credible TO ME, what i think shouldn't have any bearing on how u or anyone else feels about what he's saying. The culture that i celebrate doesn't include you or him, that's why its so easy for outsiders like u 2 throw around generalizations about this music and the ppl who created it.

I can understand the need for music reviews back in the days in magazines etc when you only heard singles on the radio and had to buy the album to listen to it but that shyt ain't neccessary anymore know that you can got onto youtube and listen to any album and check it out yourself before buying.

Why do you get to decide who is + isn't a part of hip hop culture?

Whats your claim to legitimacy, aside from I'm guessing "growing up in the hood"?

You do realize "outsiders" have been an integral part of hip hop pretty much from day 1, be it Rick Rubin, the Beastie Boys, or the millions of "outsiders" who bought shyt by NWA, Pac, Wu Tang, etc

So what are you talking about?

Nobody is taking you seriously, make no mistake bruh. I will still listen to and MAKE rap music, just as I have for the last 20 yrs. I just think its hilarious how people will completely throw out logic to validate their POV. If dude had the same nasal whiny voice/intonation, appearance, skin color etc but gave the albums positive reviews you wouldn't be on some "nah he aint part of my culture" :pachaha:

Exactly

Its like "if you dont agree w/the consensus I've come to theres something wrong with you" Man dudes kill me
