I never realized how great the dialogue on Coming Of Age was till about two days ago @Cloud McFly .
Always kinda glossed over that song with Ain't No nikka (though I thought it was much better) but the first and especially the last verse is sooo gold.
"You let your shyt bubble quietly....AND THEN YOU BLOW?!? Hey keep your cool...." :whew:
Man Jay is so underrated, I feel like people purposely ignore songs and parts of his discography to hate on or discredit him.

That song never gets a lot of credit as far as Reasonable Doubt goes, but I've been drawn to it since I first heard it. Finding out Jay wrote the whole song a year or two later was just :ohhh:

I still wonder how it would have sounded with Shyheim, as he was originally supposed to be on it before Bleek.

Part 2 is just as dope as the 1st

That song and Brooklyns Finest are brilliant because they're the best examples of Call and Response I can think of in rap music. For different reasons..... Coming of Age is a pre-planned narrative of a master and student relationship penned by Jay for Bleeks and him. Brooklyns Finest is something BIG and Jay did off top. It's organic, almost like a freestyle battle as much as cooperation. Both are arrogant and brilliant and overlooked value wise imo
