This story has gotten stranger by the day. It's gone from John Gotti's brother possibly orchestrating the hit in order to take over the family to some lovesick nut in his feelings cause old boy told him to step off. I never thought a mob boss would get hit so easily by a regular civilian, especially outside his crib

Man I think he can be a fall guy since this is so high profile. The Mob is allowed to operate by the Government and has done jobs for the CIA so I'm sure this side story is to stop prying eyes from going too deep.

I never understood New Yorkers infatuation with these mob dudes, but I guess it just ain't for me. Not my culture, but alota these dudes in the Northeast period been awestruck with this mafia shyt forever...

blacks all over the states from the west coast to the midwest to the south and even jamaica always been infatuated with the mob culture

especially the hip hop cats

Ghetto MAFIA (decatur Georgia)

Black MAFIA family (detroit, atlanta)

Supercat (jamaica, brooklyn)

super-cat-don-dada.jpg

for me personally as a former resident of the Bronx....

it only makes sense why the Mafia was so influentual amongst blacks ....

the whole underworld live above the law mentality of the Mob was always appealing to black folks in the 5 boros such as myself

im a former Teamster Union worker first got "paid my dues" when i got hired on UPS at a time when Jimmy Hoffa's son "Junior Hoffa" just became President of the Union...

so i was definitly intrigued with the Mob...because they were the ones who were basically taking a cut (extorting) a significant part of my paycheck
:manny:

along with the fact that virutally every aspect of new york life is Mob related

from the local Italian pizza restaurants on the block...to the construction crew fitting a new manhole on the sidewalk ...

to even the guys who collect your trash outside the brownstone building you live in are all in some ways affilated with the Mafia underworld business ties

also it's a major part of pop culture....the Godfather 1 and 2 were just as influental as Scarface even with it's racial undertones

it was very influental amongst rappers especially those clicking up and forming coalitions like Biggie's THE COMMISION and Nas's the Firm

and we can't forget the fashion as well...the mob hats...the pinstripe suits as well as the fly Fila and Sergio Tachinni velour jogging suits adorned with a gold chain or two definitly had a influence as well

it is what it is....

I never said there weren't people outside the Northeast who were drawn to mob culture...

I'm refuting that outside the Northeast, and some of the legacy Midwest cities (Meech and his brother were from Detroit which is a northern city with heavy mafia activity years ago, so it's not surprising they'd emulate), mafia culture is not adored and followed by blacks. Again, not that you can't find a brother or sister intrigued with them elsewhere, but that brother or sister in Arizona or Arkansas is unique, because that's not the dominant or influential culture where they are from, so it stands out...

Regardless, because I didn't grow up with the mob descriptions you mentioned, they hold little relevance to me. I've read and researched a little, but those cats had effectively zero influence on anything I have ever done...

And as such, I could care less that a mob father or whatever they called him just got cut down. As I said upthread I'm sure I'd have a lot more vested interest if this is the culture I grew up around!!

The velour jogging suits & gold chains (typically with pumas or adidas sneakers btw) was black influence on them, not the other way around...

Tupac Shakur never took to that though. He was more into the Black Panther black power movement..calling out racist cops and political parties for acting complicit in black life being snuffed and disregarded. That's why he was always seen as realer than Nas, Biggie, and Jay Z. He floated but he doing songs like Dear Mr President...different level.

I like the old school guys though because they were smarter and were legit geniuses who fought to survive. Luciano had no choice but to go at it like he did or he would be another fukking number in all that corrupt shyt back then.

When some of the best movies made during your childhood/teen years are Italian mafia movies it’s bound to happen.

Godfather 1&2, Once Upon A Time in America, Goodfellas, Casino, Donny Brasco, Bronx Tale, etc. :banderas:

Dude..

pac always made numerous MOB refrences in his songs and interviews talking about "capos".." lieutenants " and "don status" once he adopted that whole M.O.B stancw with Death Row

also he is a native of the Bronx and grew up.on east coast music so that mob influence was likely

He dont represent no goddamn Bronx in the least...lol. But yeah he did implement that in later but it wss really a Black power mechanism in his lyrics and how he approached his critics.

Because I feel like talking about it, that a crime, nikka?

Don't be dense, me saying that all that mafia shyt is wack and didn't influence me, and wanting to comment in the thread and pick guys brains for why it influences them, are not mutually exclusive...

You thinking too hard, g. It's not deep...
