Football is king. It takes A LOT out of folks so they don't have room mentally to invest in other sports. CFB and NFL right now. Basketball and hockey don't really get cooking until after the SB if we're honest.
In the span of 36 hours, I watched the Cowboys, Mavs, Stars and Rangers all win a game. FC Dallas got beat in game 1 of the playoffs by Seattle.
Literally had four different games on last night of just local teams and then Detroit vs Vegas was on the laptop.
I was watching the Rangers because that's my team but otherwise, I'm probably watching MNF over the Mavs and Stars...and it's two football teams that I'm neutral on.

MLB need a Tim Donaghy as a ump so he can fix it where u have Dodgers, Yankees, Braves and Astros ( but dusty is gone) to have dynasties built again…
The Yankees and to a lesser extent the Dodgers are the only national teams.
But it really don't matter because they kill locally.

Basketball/baseball/hockey are popular in America and in the other countries but compared to football and soccer they are niche. In my opinion, there are too much sports options out there for the sports fan. And so little time. So little free time. People are busy with their Kids, social life, school, job, etc. So you have to pick and choose. You can’t follow all the sports and all your teams with equal passion, emotional investment, time, energy, interest and intensity. Of course you can’t watch all the games of all your favorite teams.
Personally, I only have so much time and energy I'm willing to devote to being a hardcore fan to a team, where I pay attention and give a fukk regardless of team quality. I follow MLB/NHL/English Premier League too but honestly, only the NBA/NFL get that energy from me. Everyone else needs to show me.

That's a fact. Even the Red Sox locally aren't what they used to be
MLB led the evening in terms of ratings.
If anything it's indicative of sports and how fragmented things are rather than anything baseball did. Baseball had a tremendous year all in all.

Two Dominican teams are gonna play a 3 game set in 2 weeks at Citi Field and that sumbytch is damn near sold out. Mid November in Queens.The Yankees and to a lesser extent the Dodgers are the only national teams.
