Purdy team is stacked BUT with that said he is going to develop because he is in the perfect situation to learn the game n have elite players make up for his shortcomings. By the time he gets that big QB contract in 2 more years, he may end up being an elite QB by then.

Al I know is that when I saw him playing in the preseason as a rookie that he was balling. He looked even then like the best QB on the roster. I don't remember who it was but one of us in the 9er thread said dude looked like the best QB on the roster. If you don't look at stats and actually watch the game, you'd see that we are not this good offensively without him. You could say there are more elite QBs which is something that you earn over time so I can't say he's that just yet but look at this, dude is 7th in the league in passing yards but 23rd in attempts. All of that isn't YAC. Also 4th in TDs and only 3 off the lead, fewest INTS among starting QBs. That's why they shipped Jimmy G out of town and unfortunately the reason why Trey Lance never got a fair shot. He might not be elite but right now he's playing like he is. Dude makes some unbelievable throws, the Eagles game just happened to be the easiest passing game he's had this season.

It kinda don’t matter tho :francis:

Only the elite of the elite can/has done it without weapons. Thats why Brady is the goat and why Mahomes is on his way to #2.

Bc other than that….what does Joe Montana look like without Jerry rice…we don’t know! Not til he was 40. What does Peyton manning look like without Marv, Wayne, and/or Faulk? We don’t know!

So that’s why I’m so steadfast on this one: as a student of the game there’s barely ANY great QBs who don’t also have great weapons. So we not about to itemize for Brock Purdue when nobody else has to deal with it. Jalen Hurts doesn’t. Josh Allen doesn’t. Etc
Uhh..Montana played from 1979-1984 without Rice. Rice got drafted in 1985.

To ACTUAL Niners fans…

If you think he’s truly an MVP caliber QB do you feel comfortable paying him 50M a year after the ‘24 season?

For an MVP level QB that’s actually probably a bargain.

"but but air yards"

Instead of just saying that he's good at executing what KKKyle is asking him to do, ya tryna make him something bigger than that. No

Yo, Kyle has his fault but that isn’t one of them. He is the only coach elevating black coaching talent both Demaco Ryan and Saleh and technically Mike McDaniel are all from his coaching tree. And air yards matter, screens lower that number not boost it.

Man gets black QBs and suddenly forgets how to call plays, then gets them hurt.

In 2001, Antowain Smith was a 1000 yard rusher averaging four yards per carry with 12 tds rushing and one td receiving. Brady was not carrying the offense with his 18tds and 12 picks. In 2002 Brady didn’t even make the pro bowl and the offensive rankings were bad. Those early patriots teams were based around ball control and defense not Brady’s arm.
If you average less than 4 yards a carry as a team, you are not a good running team

I was a little salty about that too tbh but when I really dug into it, it's exactly how Lance was successful in college. He ran A LOT, but also had a big arm and not much touch on his passes. Dude needed to be eased into the offense just so happens in his case, Purdy came through and made him expendable.

This is why I didn’t want the niners to draft Lance because of how he was used at North Dakota state and the competition dude faced was bad. He was running over de and mlb’s and I was like no way he would be doing that in the big ten or the sec

At least we didn't go with Mac Jones. I know he had a decent rookie year but I was never a fan of his. With Lance I was ok with giving up a lot to get him because no matter how much they gave up, we still found a QB. Not many teams can have that kind of miscue and still be a contender.
