Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Its weird
Breaking Bads numbers on average outside of Part II of the final season doesn't even stack up well against GoT's season 1
Breaking bad averaged under 2million viewers per episode seasons 1-4
While averaging over 2.5 million in Part I of season 5
But Part 2 for some reason did did an average of just over 5 million per episode plus a 10 million finale
How the fukk does a show spike like that

Here
Click on each season and you can see the viewership per episode

GoT's Numbers By Season
it grows every year
This year should average over 6 per episode

dikkriding!!!

the big moment was when gus was killed... everyone went crazy.. internet went crazy.. i mean IG, twitter, hell even fb wasn't as popular in the first season as it was now

magazines started covering it, as it was the last season.. everyone was just catching up.. it was put on netflix

just ask anyone who loves (or says they do) bb and ask them when they started watching.. it's rare someone will say they were watching it on tv, live, from day 1

shyt i didn't even start until season 3.. and never would have known about it if my mom didn't buy the dvd for my stepdad

I said the same shyt until i actually watched it. Look at all the hype season 4 is getting, GOT has arrived as a mainstream phenomenon

Aint shyt nerdy about Game of Thrones.
and that goes to my above post.....

the red wedding is what got fans, magazine, hollywood, and casual watchers to start talking about it crazy.. i know that season 4 viewership is gonna be off the charts as compared to the first 3 seasons

usually when a show does something big or amazing to regular watchers, the word starts spreading

there wasn't any youtubes of people's reaction to a damn thing before that.. and in this instance, i've been a day 1 watcher

To be fair people dress up as "BB" characters too....but they don't look as terrible and embarrassing.

I don't have "GoT" in my top 5 because they don't seem to have an exit strategy. 4 seasons in and GRR Martin is talking about :patrice:"it might go for 7 seasons, it might go for 10....we might do a movie or two"....shyt scares me. I don't know of a single show in TV history that went on for 8+ seasons, and got better or even maintained it's quality/popularity.

As a rule of thumb shows don't enter my top 5 until at least 4 seasons have aired, anyway.

Fred.
this is different tho... it's from the books.. so really the first 5-6 seasons are already written

the only thing to worry about is

1. will his last two books hold up

2. will they catch up to the books and have regular ass hollywood writers come up with the last 2 seasons

3. will the deviate so much from the books that it becomes a totally different thing.. like walking dead

Game of Thrones has Star Wars franchise potential...if Martin can stick the landing with the novels, and the series has a true-to-canon ending, I'd be shocked if a GoT finale doesn't break current cable series finale records (currently owned by Sopranos...but I'm assuming Walking Dead snatches it with ease whenever it, mercifully, ends)...after that, I can't imagine a scenario where a prequel blockbuster movie franchise isn't coming down the pike...the universe and lore of the source material is just too fertile...they could be making new shyt from the GoT universe 20, 30 years from now

Season 5 (especially Part 2) of BB caught a fever pitch of fan interest (mainly through Netlix airing the previous seasons) rarely seen before. Game of Thrones has been growing as a pop culture phenomenon since season one. The Red Wedding is what really put them on the map for real, but even Ned's death season 1 was a big deal in a widespread way. I don't see how GoT doesn't get close to prime LOST levels of fanaticism by the end of this upcoming season. GoT has people reading books like no other series since probably Harry Potter (maybe Twilight or Hunger Games:manny:)

:patrice: I feel like it's already bigger than Lost :yeshrug: I sure see a lot more people into it (people who you wouldn't even expect to like that kinda show) than with Lost back in the days.

GoT is more popular and by a pretty large margin too. it would most likely break every rating record out there if it was on basic cable.

:patrice: Interesting theory, but the tradeoff is that it won't push the envelope and would have less freedom if it was on basic cable.

that's true. i forgot about the censorship. i'll just say that if users had the option to stream/download one show, GoT would easily be number 1

Everyone loves breaking bad but I couldn't get passed episode 4 in the first season.

Just wasn't my kind of show my attention was always wondering off to something else.

Game of thrones doe :banderas:

First episode had me hooked.

I watched 2 seasons in 2 days :wow:

Matter fact since we are gearing up for Season 4.

I just watched season 3 again all at once :whew:
The weekend before the show hits I'm watching all 3 again. The show is that good brehs.

now see I was the opposite. loved breaking bad from the first time I ever saw it. however, I tried to watch game of thrones, and it was some weird dungeons and dragons LOTR bullshyt. and I dont like those types of movies, so I found it unwatchable. I might take it back to the lab once I finish up "girls" tho.

exactly
only reason i even gave that show a chance was because it was netflix, and how popular the show was on the coli
- shyt i had no idea what AMC was before I got put on that show.
- I finished season 4 at the point season 5 was getting started, so it worked perfectly for me. I assume thats what happened for most of the fans that tuned in the last season.
