She was gonna die in child birth. Best case scenario is is they cut the kid out but the child was probably gonna die too. Basically either odds were she was dead. Her whole thing is she loves dragons, and she told Daemon explicitly she wanted to go out like a dragon rider so she said fukk it. Went out on her own terms.

Laena wasn’t a docile woman. She even told Daemon he needed to get his shyt together because he was gettin SAWFT and she saw more in him and didn’t want that life for her.
She showed her Valerian pride too, talkin bout her Valerian lineage and how she wanted more for her kids.
How she wanted her kids back home instead of some dusty castle collecting a check when they have Dragons.
Knowing she was gonna die, she took matters in her own hands and went out on HER terms by Dragonfire instead of bleeding out in a bed.
Corlys instilled pride in her, I can’t wait to see his reaction to the news of her dying next episode.

Not in childbirth like a housewife. I think she accepted her death was upon her and chose to go out on her own terms. So I’d say it was perfectly in line with her character (based on the few seconds we got to know her).
But she didn't even give her a child a chance. She killed herself and the baby. That's the part that's out of character for her.

The dualities at the end of the episode
They've been showing these rats since ep 1 or 2, and the rats are usually shown to be doing something where nobody is paying attention to them.
But now the rats have gotten so bold that they come out right in front of the king with no fear
I read that less as the rats being brazen, and more about Viserys finally seeing what everyone else was seeing. They might be able to squeeze some really good scenes out of him reacting to and addressing everything.

Being gay doesn’t mean they didn’t at least try to stick to the deal and make an heir. It wasn’t explicitly stated like it was with Daemon’s 1st wife where she called him out on not consummating their marriage.
