I consistently told Sony stans that merger wasn't going to be a big deal since COD was already spiraling at the bottom of the toilet. Xbots wanted to act like COD really was a slam dunk on Sony and claiming steam numbers or whatever meanwhile the people that actually play COD have been saying the game had been an absolute mess for a long time. Now if MS would have bought Activision in 2019, it could have been a completely different story because COVID COD was a force to be reckoned with.

That might be the plan. Jez windows central article stated the below. They most likely have to make changes to the base price with project helix because they can't charge an online fee to pc gamers

Microsoft sources tell me that the longer-term goal for Xbox Game Pass is to make it more flexible. A sort of "pick your own plan" formula for Xbox Game Pass is on the cards, essentially, where users can effectively decide what packages of content they want to see as part of their plan. Microsoft has leaked "Duet" and "Triton" codenames for Xbox Game Pass via its back-end APIs recently, suggesting that packages of services are in the plan's future. Don't want Xbox Cloud Gaming? Remove it and lower the price. No need for Fortnite Crew? Ditch it and add day one Xbox games.
