All this means is Meach can shut up about the leak specs, because this confirms that they are right on. So Meach stop it with we don't know, we do know in a round about way he just admitted what was on the VGLeaks spec sheet with going from 800mhz to 853mhz and the 3GB's for OS. Now that I got that out of the way.

Good Job MS 53MHz and better drivers.

Marc Whitten MS Tech. Dir. in one interview confirmed 3GB's for the OS, and now states the GPU clock has gone from 800 to 853.

Nah. This just proves I was right. You guys were making definitive statements about the specs, and all I said that they have not been confirmed as final specs. Obviously they have not because they are still changing.

Yeah you can tell the PS4 reveal with the inclusion of additional RAM coupled with the Spec Leak caught MS off Guard. I was thinking along the lines of MS as well, Sony is deep in the red and there is no way they would be able to compete with MS, somehow Sony went full boar.

:beli: you dudes try to spin everything into a win for Sony. This is just hardware improving as it's being developed. Doesn't matter what Sony did of didn't do.

If there is one trend emerging its that the ps4 isn't as powerful as they lead you stans to believe.

- They start using the Xbox One at home
- Indie stuff getting detailed on GamesCom
- Marc Whitten was key to bring Minecraft to Xbox
- Developers have final devkits
- New graphics driver
- With this driver devs can write to the metal (23:23)
- Upclock of 53MHZ (23:55)
- It's an example where they get close to the final performance envelope

some reason i'm having trouble quoting but new drivers and code to the metal DOPE

Microsoft doesn't normally allow you to code to the metal. I'm guessing this is a change in philosophy in that this console won't likely be backwards compatible either. Games would be coded to the Direct X API. Good news to see this.

It's reactionary to Sony allowing Low Level coding i.e. to the metal, that's all it is. Competition is a good thing, they heard all the devs chattering about coding to the metal on the PS4 is a great thing to have and MS said oh me too.

That could be true. I have my doubts about that though. They aren't really interested in legacy devices any longer, post move from X86 kernal to NT kernal. With this being a closed box, just let the developers have fun with the hardware and show out. That has been the great thing about playstation software in the past. They were able to get the hardware to do things that it shouldn't have been doing. Shadow of the Colossus is likely the best example. Granted, frame rate isn't great but the technologies used were cutting edge at the time. Fake HDR, motion blur to protect the variations in frame rate, self-shadowing, etc. Read more here.

how were they "right on", when they just changed? wasn't that the argument all along that we can't say much about the clock speed because it can easily change? and what about the rumor that they were downclocking the gpu? how did that work out?
