Epic got a couple decent games but when hasn't GTA V been discounted/given away. It's going to be on Game Pass, it's a game from 2 generations ago. Didn't everyone with a PS5 get that the first month?

This is the truth in one sentence.

A great micro-example of this concept in gaming is NBA 2K. It's only competition was NBA Live. And yeah, Live was mediocre compared to 2K. But it forced 2K to put a conscience effort into maintaining it's competitive edge.

Then Live died. 2K's gradual improvements became smaller and smaller, and the games are clearly worse off now than they ever were, as gameplay doesn't evolve, and microtransactions crept into almost every aspect of online play. The franchise is ruined in the eyes of many 2K fans (to include me).

I own the Series X and PS5; I am definitely more impressed with the PS5 so far. Thank God they both exist though, or Sony could very well just do to the Playstation brand what Take Two did to the 2K brand. Phone it in and nickel and dime the fukk out of it.
