They been had 1st party studios that dont produce, but i guess you're counting Bethesda now which isnt really first party. They scuffed the Halo release which would've helped them even more

and consumer favor is a myth. how do you measure this when PS5s are outselling Xbox even with limited stock? Imagine if sony had 100million ps5s to sell day one. Xbox would've gotten lapped, microsoft is just throwing money around to buy a win

You're still talking about console sales. For a company like Sony console sales are everything because that's their entire customer base. For Microsoft everyone with an Xbox, everyone with a PC, everyone that can get access via xCloud is a potential customer.

Microsoft doesn't need to sell you an Xbox for you to be their customer.

A friend of mine that has always been Playstation / PC just got a Series S with 2 free years of gamepass, dude is going nuts at the amount of games he has access to and the free gamepass also works on PC, this shyt is a game changer imo.
