This link doesnt qualify as success for the franchise in terms of dollars spent. Its cherry-picked stats (most played, highest matches) to highlight the 2nd COD that was released on gamepass.
How do the player counts look now? Has MS taken the series to a state where its more liked, or less?

so are the worse sales because of Gamepass, or nah? :patrice:
Requires more analysis. I’d say the fall off is much less due to gamepass and much more due to the rot of the franchise as a whole, which MS has done nothing to counteract
However whiplash from being offered to not certainly doesn’t help things

I didn't buy COD last year even though I bought every year since 2019. I think franchise fatigue started hitting with newer entries looking no different than the last one. Hopefully this year's COD changes things up a bit.

I think BF6 was also a factor. most years COD really doesn't have competition

it's crazy it's been so successful for almost 20 years. it doesn't have a choke hold on the license, like anual sports games. anyone could make a military style FPS. it's just hard for anyone to compete with COD's annual release cycle

again.

This man is seriously, retardedly, using a December metric for a game after it was partially given away in an argument about game success

Retarded or dishonest, are the only two options

According to newly published market data, Black Ops 7 led overall game sales for January 2026, outperforming both recent holiday releases and long-standing chart staples. The result reinforces the franchise’s continued commercial dominance, even outside the traditional Q4 launch window.

If you listen to the loud voices on the internet right now, you might think the latest Call of Duty is a total ghost town. People love to complain and call Black Ops 7 a dead game, but the actual sales numbers tell a completely different story. Even with all the heavy criticism and negative chatter online, gamers are still spending plenty of money to buy it.

:wow:

On the software charts, Resident Evil Requiem was February 2026's top-seller and is now 2026's No. 1 best-selling game overall. Rounding out the top five were NBA 2K26, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Madden NFL 26, and Minecraft.

~600,000 daily players still

Sony cult must be
Retarded or dishonest
:scust:

I’d say the annual release cycle is higher on the list in terms of what’s causing the series sales to continue to fall.
The highest selling versions appear to be MW2019 and the black ops from 2015.
A two year release cycle, less bullshyt matchmaking engagement methods (sbmm and others), and less excessive monetization would turn the series around a whole lot in my view

That’s comparing COD in 2026 vs other games in 2026, not comparing COD in 2026 to COD in 2025. If you did, you’d get data like this https://www.gamespot.com/articles/c...ly-down-from-black-ops-6-report/1100-6536893/

You keep harping on that single month like the argument was COD vs other games. You might qualify for disability breh, you should apply.
