Could be fighting games with psychic input reading AI, racing games with rubberband AI, RPGs with insta-death setups, etc
Midway takes the fukking cake for this shyt:
Mortal Kombat series- get a perfect in round 1? Time for the CPU to block everything you do and pull off inhuman combos in rounds 2 and 3. And that’s just Ultimate MK3 arcade, MK2 arcade AI deserves its own thread
NBA Jam series/NBA Showtime: Got a nice lead? AI starts making your cpu partner make 'mistakes' to win, safe shots are missed for no reason; as soon as you get +10 points lead on the other team, the other team starts doing 3 points on demand
NFL Blitz series: Up by 21 at the end of the first half? Time for you to fumble the ball EVERY time you’re tackled and forget about throwing the ball because you’re gonna magically get intercepted every time
Midway can fukk off with that “the AI is designed like that to make the game competitive”, damn near all their old games require you to cheese the AI to advance up the ladder
Add on brehs. Gonna let someone else discuss SSF2T and SNK Boss Syndrome
