So now that it's 2016 I figured we could look back and talk about all the games we beat in the year and finish any final thoughts on them.
I'm using trophies/achievements through gamercards.com to remember since truthfully I forget about a lot of these Playstation
1. Witcher 3 Wild hunt and Hearts of stone
I really enjoyed this game, great characters and performances, beautiful graphics but I do feel like it was problematic: The combat, I mean I'm not the harshest stickler, but it was pretty bad. I loved the witcher 2 and I think combat actually took a step back from that game, to the point where I just said fukk it and tanked everything. Also I feel the games open nature gets in the way of the story imo. The urgency in hunting for ciri is lost when you're out hunting down drowners for a couple dollars. Still first class quest and great game.
2. Life is Strange loved this game, totally got into the story and characters, I loved Max, Chloe and the gang, and it had some of the most memorable moments
saving kate for me especially when I found out she could really die
great game and I really look forward to the next one
3. Batman Arkham origins and cold cold hear
You'd think after playing Arkham Knight I'd be done with batman but I caught it for cheap and really enjoyed playing through it. It had some problems though primarily performance issues.
4. Until Dawn:
Another adventure game, but again so damn fun! Played through with my wife. I loved the characters and story, great twists and of course Peter Stormare. Another game in my favorites for the year. I want to play through it again and actually save everyone (I lose one person )
5. Batman Arkham Knight:
I feel like this game is unjustly shat open. I think the Batmobile as the third pillar worked for the most part, the scroll wheel was awesome, since in AC I would get overwhelmed by how much junk there was to do. Also the touches like batman explaining why he's going on a mission, the combat is still ace. All that said I know the PC version had problems and the season pass was overpriced.
6. Ratchet and Clank into the Nexus
Insomniac is quickly working it's way up my favorite developer list and this game made me really want the next Ratchet and Clank game. I just with you could have a 4 weapons to quick select so you could combo more easily.
7. Shovel Knight
Great 2D platformer, took me a looooong time to get through. But I enjoyed how much it tested my skills.
8. RE: Revelations 2
Another game I played through with my wife, just a great game, truly spooky, fun combat. The asymmetric nature between the 2 was great imo and allowed my wife to not be so anxious.
9. infamous 2nd son first light
A fun downloadable game, great to go back to seattle and fetch is a pretty good character
10. MKX
Good story mode, but fighting games aren't my thing so I sold it
11. Valiant hearts the great war
World War I is definitely underrepresented compared to 2 in terms of games. I enjoyed this game, loved the puzzles and learning more about the war.
12. Uncharted Golden Abyss
A competent if uninspired uncharted game. nothing really note worthy and it's the weakest uncharted I played.
13. Child of Light
a really beautiful RPG with a great combat system, it's too bad they decided to go with the forced rhymes for story. Still a fun game.
14. Far Cry 4
AKA FC3.5, probably my favorite shooter as an overall package. It was just a ton of fun to play through, raiding bases, blowing stuff up, hunting animals. Pagan Min was a good antagonist and entertaining. I'm glad they're changing things up for Far Cry primal though
15. MGS: GZ
As someone who wasn't hugely into MGS this is what sold me on Phantom pain. I actually wish the final game had more smaller sandboxes like this as opposed to how it actually ended up.
16. DA: Inquisition Bioware better step it up, because all these MMO quest and wack combat were weak sauce. Game tried to ape Fallout/skyrim and failed.
17. Lara Croft and temple of osiris
I love top down shooters, co-op games and puzzles, this game had it all. I actually just recently played more with my nephews still really fun, killing each other, solving puzzles
18. The order 1866
Decent TPS, needed more variety in combat scenarios, more vertically and less instant death stealth sequences. Also recycling the same damn boss fight over and over
Xbox
18. 007 Bloodstone
An actually really good TPS, with some really fun car parts, damn bizarre Rest in peace. I do wish they could have added more mobility options. Enjoyed my time with it.
19. Rise of the Tomb Raider
Wow........ I wasn't that enraptured with the tomb raider reboot, but this game was just something else, the exploration, the murder, the tombs... man it was the whole package, if only the aiming weren't sluggish!
20. Halo 5 Guardians
No offline co-op....... still a good campaign besides the recycled boss. Also story line was kind of poop, hunt the truth storyline >
If it were properly handled but the writer obviously isn't a poet and the rhymes are basic as hell.
On some my name is Mike and I ride a bike stuff I get what they were going for but they didn't do a good job delivering
