[ame=http://youtu.be/ev7BJ14Yu28]Gang Starr Video Press Kit (1990) - YouTube[/ame]

This was a VHS Promo sent out by Chrysalis Records at the time the legendary Hip Hop group, Gang Starr was getting ready to release their 2nd album, “Step In The Arena” (Released 1/15/91)
This video tape has been sitting in a box in my studio for years..I’ve always wanted to share it with Hip Hop fans who may have never had a chance to see it. It includes rare footage of Dj Premier & Guru in the studio working on their album and also a rare interview.
Big, big respect to my friend DJ Premier.

Is it me or were rappers of the 90's more eloquent when they conducted interviews...?

Dudes sound like they can actually speak proper English...

at the same time most rappers that were relevant were out of NY and we all know New Yorkers can speak clearly or more proper than southerners that's all it is.

I still listen to Gangstarr albums constantly. Guru has some of the most intelligent, insightful, prolifric street lyrics u will ever hear. Primo has some of the best production and beats ever. Both compliment each other extremely well.

I'm truly sad we will never hear another gangstarr album again but I have my collection to hold me down :yes:

As much as I hate to admit it, this is true to a degree. Along with rappers everywhere pausing to sau umm and ya know and yahmsayin between every sentence. I think it's safe to say rappers were more concerned with sounding a certain way rather than sounding intelligent.

Not all of them. Ever listen to a Wu-Tang interview? Even the RZA's interviews consisted of a bunch of "y'knahmean *stutters for 20 seconds* bong-bong, y'knahmean?"
