Guru was going for the Malcolm X look in the video. Song was dope for sure. First look at Gang Starr. A glimpse at the greatness that would ensue on the subsequent albums.

Man, he didn't even get the magazine covers when he died. Big L, Pun, guys like that gets more respect and put out a lot less shyt

Magazines were an afterthought when he died. As was east coast 90s rap.
And L & Pun were both way better MC's. Still, Guru is a legend with a tremendous discography.
