That Congress seat centered heavily around New Orleans and that's probably where the state Dem Party is strongest so it came down to two career NOLA Dems. John Kennedy is probably winning just because he's a high ranking member if the GOP so he has money , connections, state demographics
, etc... We have a jungle primary system all candidates on the ballot regardless of party so I'd be impressed if he just pulls in a significant amount of votes. State Dem Party doesn't have any candidates and probably won't even really campaign against Kennedy and Our elections last year had very low turnout so he may even finish like second/third after Kennedy if he gets some folks out
