The purpose is to get at least 5% of the vote, when you do that, you're awarded 10 mil dollars to run again in 4 years, and with that much money you can have a legit running campaign with the works.

Nah I guarantee if we knew from the start who he was, and especially knew he Jill Stein was and what she was all about, they'd have a decent chance to bounce both of these clowns.
