Charcoal ftw. I don't care what Hank Hill says

a gas grill's just a fancy stove :hhh:

Charcoal.

Get a charcoal chimney starter and the grill gets going fast.

Real men use charcoal
/thread:wow:

Charcoal all day, but I have both setups. Gas is for winter time, camping and meal prep only tho.

Charcoal then cover it with mesquite like a teepee ftw.

This gives your meat a nice smoke.

Otherwise, gas doesn't feel authentic even with liquid smoke. Unfortunately my complex only has gas grills which i don't mind since they clean it daily.

Wood pellet > both

Which type of grill do you prefer?

I think hands down we all know gas cannot compete with charcoal in terms of flavor. That isn't even debatable. But gas comes in with the convenience.

It's easier to get hot and start cooking. And easier to clean.

Gas isn't easier to clean. I dont think it is. Too many nooks and crannies. Too many parts you have to take out for a proper clean. Also parts that can break. Charcoal you literally just scrape and go.

As far as convenience, Propane really isnt that much faster than a Charcoal chimney. Hell if you want an extremely fast charcoal set up, get a propane torch. You'll have blazing Charcoal in 1 minute.

I voted charcoal, but gas grills have their uses if you get one with decent "flavor bars".

Gas grills give burgers a really unique taste because of the way the fat drippings vaporize into smoke, and go back into the meat.

I will also cook ribs on a gas grill when I want less of a smokey flavor, using this method. (you can also just cook on charcoal grill for an hour then finish in the oven)

Smoking the meat(pause) >>>>

Charcoal is definitely the way to go though out of these two options. Gas is only good if you need something done quick like a burger or some weenies.

Charcoal.

People bring up the simplicity of gas but it still takes about the same time to heat up as a proper Charcoal grill.

Charcoal is better than everyday. You cooking with fire. Easier to clean, etc.
Charcoal is better, but more difficult. I always prefer temperature that you can control.
