they were most likely watching fireworks from the beach or just getting off the boats. if you have ever seen how gators hunt their prey they are sneaky, quick and there isn't much you can do about it once they get a grip. terrible.

Those fools keep building in the middle of swampland and act surprised when a gator snatches someones ass up. My sister lives down there and every yard has a fence to keep them out. Swamps with thick grassrunning right up to the sidewalks too and who knows what's in there. I'm surprised more people aren't killed.
