Florida Judge Denies Gawker’s Motion for New Trial in Hulk Hogan Case
A Florida judge on Wednesday denied Gawker Media’s motion for a new trial in the Hulk Hogan sex-tape case, as reports surfaced that a Silicon Valley billionaire has helped finance the professional wrestler’s lawsuit.

In March, Terry Bollea, whose pro wrestling name is Hulk Hogan, prevailed in his suit against the online publisher for posting a short video in 2012 of him having sex with a now ex-friend’s then-wife.

The judge on Wednesday also upheld the jury’s $140 million award. Gawker is appealing the verdict.

Drama around the case intensified after reports that claimed billionaire investor Peter Thiel has been providing the financial muscle behind Mr. Bollea’s legal fight.

Mr. Thiel, who was a co-founder of online payments site PayPal, has been a prominent backer of everything from Facebook Inc. to floating cities to freedom of the press.

On Tuesday, Forbes reported that Mr. Thiel had been providing behind-the-scenes financial support for Mr. Bollea’s lawsuit. Later, the New York Times also reported his involvement.

What if this guy's play is to buy gawker media. By helping Hulkkk win the lawsuit it puts Denton in a spot to sell at a lower price so he swoops in and buys it cheap.

Isn't that insider trading.

Mr. Thiel, a co-founder of PayPal and one of the earliest investors in Facebook, privately agreed to help pay the expenses of Mr. Bollea’s legal team, this person said.

A self-described libertarian, Mr. Thiel has a long history with Gawker, which published an article in 2007 outing him as gay. Mr. Thiel, who is now open about his sexual orientation, once described the Gawker-owned site Valleywag as “the Silicon Valley equivalent of Al Qaeda.”

They would have to prove that is his actual intention, something they obviously can't. Assuming that it is his actual intention in the first place of course.

"The involvement of Thiel, an eccentric figure in Silicon Valley who has advocated for teenagers to skip college and openly supported Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, adds another wrinkle to a case that has garnered widespread attention for its implications over celebrity privacy and a publication’s First Amendment rights. "

No wonder why this money mark is supporting Hoegan. Trash recognize trash.
