Straight Black men intimidate people. I personally don't care anymore.
But it has more to do with a power position. Soft, go-along-to-get-along type of Black guys do well in corporate but they immediately place themselves in a subservient position.
Straight Black men that aren't gay or soft will always be intimidating because they/we refuse to give up our power position. So this comes off as intimidating and threatening. We are not smiling with people we don't know, not talking about ourselves too much, listening more than we talk, etc... and it makes certain folks nervous. They are used to and like the talkative, smiling Black guy. He is likely subservient to them and is okay in that position.
