Well indentured servitude is like a temporary agreement to work for someone for set amount of time, then be released from that obligation, may be with some land or money,but maybe just your freedom. Slavery is a lifetime, one sided deal for the most part. Unless you were able to buy your "freedom" out.
I have read different things that said the first Africans to Jamestown were indentured servants, but within a few years only white were indentured and black were all slaves. Then other publications say outright the first blacks in Jamestown were slaves.
Idk the answer there, but that seems to be a point of historical contention.
