A teen was killed and three men were injured in separate attacks on the South Side Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, police said.
The 17-year-old boy killed was shot this evening near 70th Street and Stony Island Avenue and pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital about 8:30 p.m. He was shot in the hip by someone who approached him on foot.
The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the boy as Leonard Anderson, of the 7200 block of South Bennett Street.
Early Friday morning, a 39-year-old man was shot in the thigh in the East Chatham neighborhood. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center from the 8000 block of South Ingleside Avenue, where he had been standing on a sidewalk when someone approached and shot him.
About 3:35 p.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old man was shot in the South Shore neighborhood.
The man was in the 1900 block of East 72nd Place when he was shot in the hip, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
In Englewood, a 20-year-old man was shot in the thumb while driving. The man drove to near 73rd and Green streets following the shooting, and told police he had been driving when he was attacked, hearing shots and then feeling pain, in the 7000 block of South Morgan Street.
The man was treated and released from St. Bernard Hospital.
No one was in custody in the shootings.
