We were doing it right from 1930-75 when we were investing in people, education, and infrastructure then we let the Conservatives take over slowly but surely. Their mantra is, if some fat old white guy isn’t making a billion dollars then it’s a bad idea.

If those employees were expecting those pensions to last they were insane. GE has been in trouble for years. The writing has been on the wall. Their stock is in the toilet at under $9 compared to the $32 in Summer 2016 and they've been downgraded by the S&P and UBS among others. They would have lost it at some point.
