Ima just be a hater for a minute and say I was a huge Xbox stan back in the 360 days (latter high school years). So I was so hype for this title, looked at new screenshots in magazines and web forums and shyt every month. Couldn't wait for this shyt to drop and see my little white box-that-could blow away everything on PS3.
Then I played that shyt. And once I got past the visuals I was just like
The biggest, most over hyped disappointment in my whole history of game collecting, bar none.
Run up on wall, cover, shoot. Run up on next wall, cover, shoot
Controls feel like a glorified game of chess.
And the online multiplayer was TRASH. Turned that shyt off and couldn't wait to jump back on Halo Reach for some real action. I thought that would be the saving grace, but it's even less fun than single player.
Yeah, GOW is on the top of my most overrated games list for sure. No amount of flashy visuals could get me to have any fun with that game. I damn near just wanted to stop playing video games when I realized this is the wave these new age, cinematic "shooters" are on now. I had WAAAAAAAAAAY more fun playing Lost Planet. Now thats the direction the game shoulda went.
I thought GOW was gonna go out eventually like Fable, another over hyped, over budgeted MS game studios franchise. But it seems to have a huge fan base and been going strong.
With that said I did like the art and story direction. It could make a killer series in the right hands.
