The Gooddell run NFL has been a PR disaster. Instead of taking the quickest
route possible to push a negative story out of the headlines they go out of their way to keep it in the public conscious.

-They could have hit Ray Rice with a long suspension but botched it and it became a bigger story

-Gooddell could have forfeited his judge/jury/executioner powers after the Ray Rice fiasco

-They could have made sure Kap was on a roster like they did Michael Sam

-They let Deflate Gate go on for ever

-They could have listened to the lead investigator and not suspended Zeke for DV

-They could have got out in front of the CTE issue

There's more but Gooddell makes unnecessary moves without thinking of the consequences. His moves are incredibly short sighted. Things that should have been handled in the off-season end up being drawn out and spilling over into the season when the games should be the topic of discussion. It took a year for the Zeke investigation

I live in Texas, I haven't seen any sort of mass exodus from the sport, but I can see a slight drop off of kids who aren't showing any real future potential getting out earlier. People in other sports are more likely to specialize than be a 2 sport athlete. Things like that.
