I’m an 83’ baby :flabbynsick:, this is me in the car with my nephew who’s 21. He gets no Aux cord in there. I listen to those same Mobb Deep and Smif N Wessun songs all day everyday mixed with old school R&B, 70’s and 80’s Rock etc.

A lot of it is just being on this earth long enough. These songs were around when we were babies playing in grocery stores, in our favorite childhood movies etc., our parents playing their favorite records and favorite radio stations in their cars and the rowdy 90’s grimey Rap was the soundtrack to our adolescences. What kills is how a huge percentage of Gen Z has no appreciation of the old school because the very essence of Hip Hop is putting a spin on old school music.:childplease:

The vast majority of black gen X didn’t fukk with heavy metal. Probably a lil rock and easy rock but not that headbanger shyt :russ:
Nah, not exactly. Remember all that 80’s Rap often had those heavy metal guitars on some songs from Run DMC to LL Cool J to BDP. Anthrax and Public Enemy were cliqued up in the early 90’s always collaborating. Rage Against the Machine was on some anti-cac revolutionary shyt and they toured with Wu Tang back in the 90’s. nikkas was definitely fukking with them.

Yes, I find most things with a heavy electric guitar grating on my ears. lol
Yea I cant do that. I will say I have been ok listening to Punk (again only things thats considered good)

However, that only happened cause of the Netflix doc about the black band that might have started it.
