I think that's more a function of necessity. If they had the money, the devs would find a way to extract it.

Gen Z/Alpha doesn't have the purchasing power, so they have had to improvise. It's like a dude making $50k/year saying "I'd rather drive a Kia because it's simple and gets the job done." That may be true....but he makes $50k/year.

Now if that same guy suddenly started making $50M/year....he will say that "my tastes won't change", but that's almost always bullshyt. Money will get spent but the "how" will be different.
That line of thinking has diminishing returns, and we're seeing it in real time. This ain't just about gaming. Nikkas ain't going to the movies, concerts, and are dropping streaming services. It's easy to say "yea cause nikkas broke" but there's a switch or something that goes off in nikkas brains when you acknowledge that all this shyt sucks now:mjlol:

We all see these companies destroying quality while trying to squeeze every cent out of nikkas and some of y'all are stuck on grinning and bearing it just to show that you can afford to:mjlol: Then when nikkas say the shyt sucks y'all ain't even willing to admit it till 2-3 years later:mjlol:

Nevermind the bad writing, stagnant genres, and greedy DLC practices tho:mjlol: How long are nikkas supposed to keep swallowing the same bullshyt?

Isn't the average gamer in their 30s anyways?

Millennials have been carrying the industry

100%.

I can buy any game I want....but it's gotta be something I actually want :sas2: :russ:.

Got PS+ and GamePass to cover me on games that I wanna play but don't wanna buy and then I'll hit up the stores for games I want to own like Starfield, AC Shadows, Ghost of Yotei etc.

Gen Z/Gen Alpha been on that Roboblox, Minecraft wave. They don't do the big AAA theatrical games like Millenials.

Millenials want that Game of Thrones experience. Gen Z/Gen Alpha want the equivalent of Southpark. Game of Thrones cost wayyyyy more $$$$ to make but Millenials have the $$$$ to buy while Gen Z/Gen Alpha doesn't.

I agree with both of these takes. If you really look at it, Gen Z is spending their time (and money) on Fortnite, Roblox, and free-to-play models. Meanwhile, Millennials and Gen X are the ones buying up the “AAA” blockbuster titles. From the outside, that means everything is being bought and played by somebody.

Studios are keep going to spend time on Ultimate Team of Millennials keep eating it up, and Millennials can’t say single-player games are dead if we’re buying Baldur’s Gate 3 or waiting on GTA 6. Neither generation gets to dictate where the industry goes, because the reality is there’s something for everyone. I don’t have to like Roblox or Marvel Rivals, as long as I’ve got my Starfield, BG3, and the next big single-player release to dive into.
