People were believing any bad thing about Puff decades before this suit was filed. Puff was actually called the devil. People still believe he killed Biggie and Pac. Those were 90's rumors. Then there was that venue where multiple people were killed at an event he hosted. That one was something he was actually found liable in. There's the contracts where artists forfeited their publishing. People blame him for Mase becoming a pastor. He's blamed for Black Rob and Craig Mack's deaths. He's blamed for Loon and G. Dep being in jail, and Carl Thomas being broke.
He did do Shyne dirty. The contract situation with Mase and The Lox, both Puff and those artists share blame in that. Regardless of whatever garbage Puff was selling them to sign those contracts, the moment he introduced contracts to the equation should've alerted them that he wasn't signing them into a family. Puff should've showed them the business and explained how the contract worked and since they pretty made Puff the artist, he could've looked out for them more than he did.
Puff being the devil was something that people fed more into once Mark Curry wrote the book Dancing with the Devil.
