On my maternal side I traced back through Jamaica to France.

Found slave register of plantation owned by my 5th G-GF for a period of time.

I already knew this my grandmother had already told me about the colourism and racism, they endured from some of their relatives growing up in Jamaica.

For example my great grandfather was of mixed heritage and married my great grandmother who was a dark skin black woman.
Some of his siblings and other relatives treated her badly because of that
