President Trump will hold an Oval Office event Thursday aimed at reminding public schools that students have constitutional rights to prayer – and that they could risk losing federal funds unless those rights are protected.

They do? Since when? Did something happen to the separation of church and state? :what:

You mean the part that says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech"?

Any reasonable reading of that pretty explicitly gives children the right to pray in school and prevents the federal government from taking that right away from them.

"I'm a black male"

After causing a stir among the city hall’s meeting members, District 3 commissioner Keon Hardemon asked Ortiz about what he identified as years ago on official documentation.

“I think I put white male,” he responded.

“I don’t know if ... well I know I put white male, but I don’t know if I put Hispanic,” he continued, seemingly agitated.

“No, I know ... listen, I know who I am.

District 5 Commissioner Joe Carollo, interjected: “You put down Hispanic male, didn’t you?”

“As a man, I stand by it,” Ortiz responded.

“When did you have this, uh, coming to, uh, God moment that you were black. When did God tell you that?” Carollo probed.

“Well, I learned that there are people in my family that are mixed and that are black,” Ortiz replied.

Hardemon, Miami’s sole black commissioner and chairma, jumped back in telling him, “let’s not talk about the degree of blackness.”

“Oh, no, you’re blacker than me — that’s obvious,” Ortiz shot back. “And if you know anything about the one-drop rule, which started in the 20th Century, which is what identifies and defines what a black male is, or a negro, you would know that if you have one drop of black in you, you’re considered black.”

Claim the one-drop-rule applies to you when absolutely zero people including yourself knew about that one drop brehs. :mjlol:

I am waiting for the news that he was racially profiled in his car then shot when he reached for his cellphone, before I pass judgement....

The GOP has made it no secret that they want children in public schools to have morning prayer. At one point, pushing Intelligent Design as well. So when Trump makes that sort of comment that's the type of thing he's referring to.

White House homeland security adviser Pete Brown is leaving the post soon, after about half a year. He replaced Doug Fears, who replaced Tom Bossert.

There’s some question about whether the job will be refilled. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-19/white-house-homeland-security-adviser-being-shifted-out-of-job …

One of Pete Brown’s most prominent roles was during hurricane season last yr. He was one of Trump’s staunchest defenders after the president claimed that Hurricane Dorian might hit Alabama, despite meteorologist statements to the contrary. Brown released statement in support.
