Most reasonable people don't want military deployed on the street

There's no catalyst, no structure, no plan. Trump just woke up and put military forces out in a major city

This won't be popular politically. Mind you Trump pardoned hundreds of criminals that assaulted cops in DC earlier this year. If anybody is hostile to DC police its him

This appeals to people that already are extreme. It's not winning over new voters. Just more chaos and shock

You keep focusing on the military and not the “mobilization of action” that resonates.

Trump’s moves are popular because “crime is bad”. I’m not telling you to agree or like it. I’m telling you that he’s winning more than you realize on this issue.

It’s the fact he has officers that aren’t just military doing this stuff across federal agencies.

I also think you’re wrong. Theres a large silent majority that want calm safe streets in bad neighborhoods. Democrats dont have the balls to surge police into bad neighborhoods and instead want to be seen as listening to community activist groups and entities holding them back.

Trump is saying “fukk all that. here’s the law”…and, its gonna work :francis:

We'll see.... I understand what you're saying and there's plenty of truth to it too.

There's probably a tactful and popular way for the Federal Government to mobilize action, to your point. Would involve finding middle ground and compromise, making an appeal to constituents. You know, standard politician stuff. I'm not convinced anything Trump does can be considered tactful. He's a convicted felon and pardoned people that assaulted police officers. It's the same hypocrisy/ projecting/ chaos (think Epstein files) that voters are souring on.

If say Dummy DeSantis was president and puling the same operation, the optics are better. It might look and feel normal. If there were riots or a spike in DC crime, Trump would have a card to play here too. As it stands today, this very much appears as the same fascist authoritarianism Dems have been warning about. Perhaps the idea is workable but the execution and "leadership" is still a disaster.

The average person does not want boys in girls sports

the average person doesn’t understand why illegal immigrants are allowed to stay

the average person doesn’t understand why police can’t lock criminals up

The average person doesn’t want money spent on other countries.

The average person doesn’t understand trade surpluses

Trump is just doing what the average person wants and understands. He doesn’t complicate issues or try to add nuance of relationships that fall into gray areas.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner you realize what Democrats will need to win again.

yep. i'm beyond tired of coddling these contrarian idiots on the far left, who insist on going against the grain, to the party's detriment. it's embarrassing

this is the only one Trump is really fukking up on. because he's not doing anything that can show tangible wins to voters. people don't care about "the treasury taking in tariff money", all we get out of this is higher prices. Dems need to just start shytting on the economy, and pointing out that peoples' bills are the exact same

there's not much to break down. texas is gerrymandering like every state gerrymanders

it's a big story because states usually do this every 10 years, after the census. but republicans are desperate, because trump and the tax bill are so unpopular, and they're scared of another 2018 midterm. so they're doing it mid-census, which is a break from norms, but not actually illegal

if they had just waited until 2030 it's basically a non-story. and if they go ahead with it, a few blue states are gonna try to gerrymander even more, as a counter. it's basically a race to the bottom :dead:

I think your right on the fact that people are underestimating part of this. Its just like immigration, even though I dont agree with his tactics he is visibly doing something about it, not holding another community meeting that has been done 3000 times before. And sometimes, in the realm of politics, feelings can matter just as much as facts. Crime is trending downward but if people still feel unsafe then that fact is basically irrelevant. :francis:

If the kids stop shooting, mobbing up, riding dirt bikes and car jacking you’re gonna see a different opinion on it start to surface.

Basically norms are not laws and Texas is violating a norm to gain a political edge

It’s so frustrating because trade deficits literally help the USA be the reserve currency of the world. But the “average person” doesn’t get it :snoop:
