i grew up in the NYC area, i know a lot of people here did too, but i gotta ask - did the rest of the country just not pay attention to Trump? he's been famous for like 50 years at this point. did they just know him as a successful businessman? did they just like the idea of Trump. anyone who ever knew a shred about him knew he was a fukkin shyster con artist dirtbag. yeah, you might have thought he was funny and his lifestyle inspired you, etc... but you want him to run the fukkin USA?

even if they watched his stupid fukkin reality show, wasn't he just an a$$hole most of the time? would they want Simon fukkin Cowell running the country? he was a successful rich guy too. British granted, but you know what i mean. fukkin morons from day 1.
his appeal to much of the White Southern working class I live around has always been the funniest part of the Trump phenomom to me, dude is a borderline gawd to some of these folks and he shares nothing in common culturally with them besides the bigotry (which is probably the point)

he despises those people. even at this point when he knows they are the reason he is what he is, he absolutely reviles them

This is why. They knew the image of him being successful, but not the fact it was a mirage. Trump got dismissed almost immediately from Philly when he was trying to acquire a gaming license because they saw through his bullshyt, even when he trotted out Boyz II Men and Pat Croce to vouch for him. They wound up giving that 2nd license (I believe the first full casino license with Table Games was Sugarhouse) to Foxwoods and they didn't even open anything in the area.

I bet Michael Wolfe is intelligence himself. It’s not the first or last time someone moonlighting as a journalist is also tapped in with an asset or other agent themselves and trying to coordinate messages. Why is Michael Wolff so interested in taking down Trump from the inside. It seems like a weird thing to quarterback and then also be disinterested.

He appeals to working-class people in the Rust Belt as well. Many of them blame Democrats for the decline of the manufacturing industry—a perception that isn’t entirely unfounded, given the effects of globalization and trade policies over the past several decades. However, Trump was never going to be the one to reverse that trend and was always going to profit as a billionaire. What he did possess, unfortunately, was the instinct and political savvy to exploit those grievances.A significant portion of his base—perhaps 60 to 70 percent—can fairly be described as motivated by racism, resentment, or outright bigots. Yet it would be a mistake to dismiss the rest entirely. Many in the parts and manufacturing sectors and labor unions genuinely have bought into his rhetoric about “bringing jobs back” and “restoring American industry.” They saw in him a champion of their economic pain, even though his policies were more symbolic than substantive. In reality, his promises functioned less as solutions and more as emotional appeals, designed to harness frustration rather than resolve it. If democrats would like to turn around in Ohio Iowa Michigan Pennsylvania etc they have to start appealing to these people.
