Tbh, it’s not their fault. America has made politics less about politics and policy and more about rivalries and entertainment. The average Republican voter is the same way a the average Demoratic voter—which nearly everyone on this site is, just average. My issue is always how high minded a people are for doing the same thing. No one here is a political strategist or trying to get people to vote for them, so why not express your conscience instead of what Game Theory says.

I think they genuinely hold the immoral positions they're espousing, but aren't used to being called to task for it, so they respond by adopting the mask of the apolitical strategist to sublimate their shame. This country specializes in turning morality and caring into a weakness and vulnerability, which is why there's a palpable desperation to their posts seeking to reject the moral framing and retain this affected disaffection under the guise of being an amoral "in the know" politico, unlike these doe-eyed leftists. Basically, it's a version of cosplay that allows them to slough off the hard work of morality. The irony is that they fukking lost the election anyway.
