I don't think it's exactly their point, but it's close because they have a more Realism-based foreign policy than the DC/Democratic establishment.
I disagree they just approved 3 billion in offensive weapons to israel. Trump is just corrupt has nothing to do with realism based foreign policy. He sees himself in putin, he wishes he could imitate him from a foreign policy perspective

The Resistance Libs were coming up with poor-man's John le Carré crap about how Trump peed on a russian hooker and Putin turned him into a super secret double agent with this kompromat, they weren't right. Trump and the entire GOP have been compromised by their own home-grown shytty ideology, born and bred right here in the good old US of A. The resistance libs have a psychological need to turn to a mysterious, powerful foreign enemy to explain the shyttiness of MAGA because they refuse to accept what this country truly is. Resistance lib thinking was always massive cope when anyone could look to recent history and see the germs of this ideology percolating within the post-war conservative movement, ironically primarily promulgated by vicious anti-communists. That ideology is still alive and well. It isn't America that has been compromised by Russia, it's been Russia that has been compromised by America. Their transformation into a hypercapitalist oligarchic gangster state was directly aided and abetted by American foreign policy machinations. America won the Cold War, the Soviets lost. To the degree that Russia is going to get everything they want and more in Ukraine, it's because it doesn't directly contravene American economic interests of international resource exploitation and global flow of capital.

But I agree that we currently have a government deliberately trying to destroy the country. It's just that they're doing so all by themselves, they don't need a foreign master pulling the strings. It's the domestic oligarchy that is directing and benefitting from the destruction of the country.
You're right that the GOP's rot is homegrown, and Trump-ism is a natural extension of decades of right-wing ideology, but dismissing Russian influence entirely is just as much "cope" as the Resistance Libs you're criticizing. The GOP wasn't always blind to Russia. They were staunchly opposed to Moscow before Trump too office, which was in line with decades of Cold War and post-Cold War Republican orthodoxy. But Trump reshaped the party, downplayed Russian threats, adopted policies more conciliatory towards them, and even removed language from the GOP platform that supported Ukraine.

Trump didn't need to be a secret agent for his actions to align with Putin's interests. He openly admired authoritarian strongmen, repeatedly tried to weaken NATO, and parroted Kremlin talking points on Ukraine and on Europe. His realignment of US foreign policy wasn't just ideological, it directly benefited Russia in ways that even traditional Republican hawks found alarming. Yes, America's oligarchy is driving the country's decline, but that doesn't mean foreign actors aren't contributing by taking advantage of the chaos. Pretending Russia had no influence, just because you think some liberals exaggerated it, is throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

As I've said from the beginning of this conflict, Zelensky has been doing exactly what he should be doing. By hook or by crook, pushing back against the illegal invasion of his country by Russia. He was never going to win this war, but he absolutely should have robbed the US for as much money and weapons as he could have in order to get as favorable a post-war situation as he could. American wellbeing is not his prerogative, he's the President of Ukraine. But now that the tide has turned and the money/weapons tap is being turned off, he should probably be moving to get an end to the conflict as quickly as possible to lock in his current position and placate his benefactor before more backsliding takes place and he ends up like his predecessors:

Who do you want to win this conflict?

Putin's foreign policy is highly Realism-based, so Trump imitating him is aligned with my statement that he's operating on a more Realism-based paradigm than the Democrats/DC establishment. Even Trump's approach to the Israel-Palestine issue is more Realism-based then Biden's.

And just to be clear, I'm referring to capital-R Realism, as in the International Relations school of thought Realism (international relations) - Wikipedia

Not sure what your point is, if Putin had kompromat on Trump or not it doesn’t really matter.

If Putin installed a puppet in the White House that puppet would govern indistinguishably how Trump is governing right now.

so yes it would be fair to say the resistance liberals were right and how Trump is acting right now is pure vindication.

The Soviet Union wasn’t some beacon of human rights, not sure why you’re trying to frame it as America corrupted some beacon of liberty and prosperity

Trump has again taken possession of the classified documents that are not his, but belong to the National Archives.
