You’ve become awful defeatist my friend. Yes, racism is the point. And racism was outvoted in both of Trump’s first two campaigns for the White House.

I'm just being realistic, the US is probably cooked at this point regardless :francis:

Even IF we assume we'll actually have fair elections and the GOP won't just cheat/voter suppress, and even IF we assume the populace won't just continue to vote for Trump/Republicans, the damage is done. I just can't see one Democratic administration undoing all of social, economic, and reputational damage Trump has sowed. And that's in only a couple months.

I'd still encourage everybody to vote against these clowns but realistically I think we're beyond any actual good outcome, it's damage control at best.

The damage has been done....

It's gonna take a lot more than '26 and '28.

This problem goes past federal elections, the make up of the federal/state system, state legislatures, etc.

~50% of the voting population don't believe in thinking, reason, facts, logic, etc.

The Dems and Progressives keep wanting to appeal to the better nature of these "non-political" and "Low information" voters.

They should just lean in on what Trump's tapped into, anger.

Instead of "illegals", why not go after the actual swamp. The lobbyists, the law firms, the industrialists, big pharma, big tech, big media...
  • How many red state folks would love to see the CEO's of Monsanto and John Deere put in handcuffs and carted off to jail for what they've done to farming?
  • How many want to see the Walton Family who bankrupted every store in town, and then leave when after they bled the place dry?
  • Why does this hammer cost $650? Who signed off on this? Where are my handcuffs....
That's what I wanted to see done to the financial industry back in 08, and Obama dropped the ball. Obama wasn't even carrying that ball tbh....

But they won't.

If Germany’s reputation could recover from Hitler we’ll be able to recover from the damage Trump does. We just need to stay resolved and not give up

That's why countries are running away from us and banding together against Trump...

Unlike what trump says... the world isn't lining up to kiss his ass and he's throwing a tantrum

The issue is that money exists and most democrats are taking it too. Additionally as you said, most voters are low info, on top of that most people don’t even participate in our electoral processes. There’s no reason to keep trying to appeal to conservatives, and they certainly don’t give a fukk about Walmart or Monsanto. Economy and immigration. Those are the key issues. Stop with the trannys, gays and social issues. Dems are absolutely better for the economy, but they’re fukking awful at communicating.

The problem isn't that Dems run on "trannys, gays, and social issues" it's that Republicans do and will do so regardless of what Dems say.

And anyway, whether you're willing to admit it or not many people care more about culture wars than the economy. Why do you think most white people (and many others) feel they relate more to Trump (a rich billionaire who has lived a life of extreme privilege) than someone like Kamala who was raised middle class? It's not because of issues with her economic policy.

Why peddle something so untrue?

It's not untrue. I wish it was, but it's not. There have been many academic studies on the subject.
