Hard to speak the truth to power when you are dependant on that power in the form of grants and donations.

That said, being beholden to to the whims of depots will only stifle innovation and learning. Under a regime like this, Havard and other American universities lose their exalted status in 20 - 50 years?

I am sure there have smarter people than me who can crunch the numbers.

So what the big donors don't see, is that if Harvard doesn't fight now, it will also suffer in future.

It tracks well for this group. The German Nazi party enjoyed doing terrible things to Jewish populations on Jewish holidays. Absolutely planned due to it.
