My dad has kidney failure and Medicaid paid for his dialysis until he got on Medicare (which currently pays for his dialysis now). Medicaid literally saved my dad and grandmother life. This is why I have been a massive massive advocate for Universal Healthcare.

There's a ton of leaps and assumptions in here to circumvent obvious conclusions. But ok.
Putin is the world leader Trump admires the most, probably. He loves what he represents. Same way a lot of these hyper-masculine right-wing pundits and influencers have been sucking Putin off because he wrestles a bear shirtless and does Judo flips and did the dog stunt with Merkel. Putin's Russia has marketed itself as the bastion of white Christian patriarchial nationalism. So Trump really has no reason to criticize Putin. Same way as he hasn't criticized Orban or Erdogan or Modi. They're all running strong-man governments and Trump wants to be perceived that way.
If by puppet you mean a sleeper cell Manchurian candidate then yeah that would be a pretty big deal. But I haven't seen any evidence for that assertion, and the more obvious conclusion is that reality TV host who has cultivated the persona of a 80s New York real estate magnate is acting without the need for foreign instruction.
I say it's not a big deal because the worse excesses of the Trump administration have nothing to do with Russia policy.
