ATF’s Historic Reform Package: What It Means for Suppressors.
Big changes are on the horizon for the NFA community. The ATF has announced 34 new pro gun rules, many pending public comment, and if finalized these could reshape how suppressors and other NFA items are owned and used.
Here’s what you need to know:
No More CLEO Notifications
Applicants will no longer have to share sensitive tax information with local law enforcement.
Joint Registration for Spouses
Married couples can legally share access to NFA items with no trust required.
Easier Interstate Travel
No more notifying the ATF when traveling across state lines with NFA items for less than 365 days. Suppressors were already exempt.
Pistol Brace Rule Rescinded
The stabilizing brace rule is being fully rolled back.
$0 Tax on NFA Items
Updated regs reflect a $0 tax for suppressors, SBRs, SBSs, and AOWs thanks to recent legislative changes.
These changes are not final yet. Public input will play a key role so stay informed and be ready to engage.
