I'm not too big into the whole Infinite album, mainly because Em hadn't found an identity at the time and the beats are mostly trash. But I will say that title track is fantastic.

I understand the crowd that wishes he woulda stayed with more traditional sounding music but I think they largely miss the point of what being an MC is about when it comes to expressing yourself.

He was supposed to approach rap from where he was at, not just emulate...if you listen to Infinite he was def a skilled rapper but he was just rapping to be impressive. I much more prefer the weirdo persona and off kilter shyt, even with the influences that material had much more of HIMSELF in it than most of his early material...THAT'S how you hook a fanbase...you give them a window into your life.

Yes Infinite "sounded" Hip-Hop, but in actuality, he sounded no different than most underground rappers at the time. If he had made nothing but that type of music, nobody would have given him a chance. Remember, it was the Slim Shady EP that Iovine and Dre heard that made them want to sign him, not Infinite.

The Eminem I liked the most was in 2002, because he sounded the most honest. That's a major reason why "The Eminem Show" is his best album to me. And in terms of the lyrical impressive rap, I'll take "Till I Collapse" over ANYTHING on Infinite any day.
