I used to think OP was a pretty cool guy

Damn really fasi? I still love you man. You gotta understand this is a difficult time for Kobe standom and it causes me to be more hostile to our most famous enemies (You, @Bilz etc) But I love both you guys, it wouldn't be the same without you gents.

 lets start a new bro

Dragic :wow:

I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that there is no direct link between homicides due to guns and gun laws. We just haven't seen a system yet in the US where gun laws are universal so if an unregistered gun is used for a crime in NYC, it's most likely not from NYC. NYC's gun laws have certainly deterred the usage of unregistered fire arms in shootings.

With that said, I overestimated the impact of the Democratic Party becoming a larger tent and bringing in Blue Dogs. I thought they'd get behind progressive platforms, but just have reservations involving certain social issues. 2010 showed me :smh:.

BTW, not to be the popo, but let's try to keep this at least semi-serious brehs.

You have to understand that I had campaigned for some of these people and was working in DC at the time. I think we were all fooled. When I say progressive, I mean didn't think passing basic progressive issues would be considered victories.

True man, and to take it even further, a lot of the people you may have campaigned FOR were fooled themselves by the DCCC :manny:

Great idea for a thread. Takes a lot to admit when you're wrong. Wish more politicians could come to terms with that.

I'd say believing libertarianism is a legitimate way to go. Then I started studying economics and spoke with Ron Paul guys in class. :patrice:

My ideas about Africa changed when I went to Nigeria. Went with a pretty idealistic vision and saw that they have class and ethnic and religious divisions just like us. I'm pretty sure anywhere on the planet where there are more than three people, politics will be an issue.

I used to think that being the smartest guy in the room was the most important thing. Definitely wrong about that one. Playing the game is way more important than knowing any particular bit of information. I've had to change the way I look at employment and careers based on this.

I believed 9/11 was an inside job. Was one of the first people to watch that youtube video. I was only13/14 though. But that was the dialogue that helped me develop my cognitive skills.

I also didn't believe in global warming up until the end of junior year in college (sp09). Got caught on one of those biased sites and didn't do my research. Also, as you know, one of the Penn State professors was smack dab in the middle of the controversy where they found emails that suggested it may have been a hoax.

Thought trayvon martin was an open and shut case.

Thought Occupy Wall Street would work to effect real change. (In a way it did though. Obama's entire campaign rides the Occupy wave.)

Let's see...

In 08, I thought due to public pressure, Obama would have no choice but to crack down hard on the big banks and fundamentally restructure the financial system. I generally had way too much faith in the ability of the Democratic party at that time, like BarNone. I underestimated the resistance of the blue dogs and didn't see the Repubs obstructing THAT much at a time when the country was trying to heal from a near depression.

I used to see the legacy of slavery/jim crow post-civil rights movement as mostly just a psychological/cultural albatross while not seeing the full scope of how structurally racist policies manifest themselves.

I used to be your average "fukk them fakkits" homophobe until I grew up.

I used to be a Christian until I grew up.

I used to believe in spanking kids because that's how we were raised. Looking at the data and just thinking about it some more, I've changed my views and I don't think it's a good idea to beat kids.

I used to view hip-hop in very structural, rigid, mechanistic terms and not appreciate the full scope of aesthetics present in the genre. I was put on when I was a kid by older heads who saw Rakim, BDK, and G Rap as the holy trinity and always kinda had that competitive, lyrical, east coast bias that informed my approach to hip-hop. That can be good because you have certain standards, and seek out good music that the mainstream has missed on, but it's also a very rigid, closed-minded outlook. I even went through an uber-music snobphase where I listened to almost exclusively obscure mostly west coast independent hip-hop and hated on almost everything mainstream.. Thank god I broke out of that. Now I can enjoy and appreciate everything from Rakim to E-40 to Three 6 Mafia to Aceyalone to De La Soul to Rick Ross.

I used to be convinced the JFK assassination was a conspiracy. It still might be, but I'm not totally convinced like I used to be.

I've had pretty much the same views for about the last 10 years though. :manny:

I'm happy to say I was never a 9/11 truther and I never fukked with Ron Paul or libertarianism for one second.

Norfeast groovin…
I thought Obama would get us Single Payer or at least a Public Option.

I thought Obama wouldn't deport my brother and would bring sweeping changes to the drug laws.

I thought Keystone XL would've been deaded by now.

I thought Obama was bigger than to use drones.

I thought human beings were collectively smarter than we've shown ourselves to be.

However, What is the definition of a just society? One where the inefficient members of society are quickly weeded-out and made to suffer? While the superior people are afforded lives of insane luxury? Is that really the ideal? I don't think that is the way that it should be. everyone should be able to live fulfilling lives--have families and have a sense of accomplishment before they die. It shouldn't be based on how smart they are or how fast they can learn Graduate level geometry. Moreever, Someone's happiness shouldn't be based on how much they are willing to sacrifice for the future or how much discipline they have. Not everyone has the same level of innate discipline. The ants have an innate and probably genetic advantage over the grasshoppers. The Ant's should help the grasshopers because the Grasshoppers have no ability to mimic the discipline of the ants. They just have different natures, and they should complement each other in a moral society not compete with each other.

Because not a single person on this earth has any sort of control of their characteristics or attributes that will define them, so why should they be punished for that?

Given the growing amount of evidence on Genes (even epigenetics) and determinism.

how did this psychotic racist bullsht receive so many daps?????????????
