ponder was drafted because a team was blindly desperate for qb, and convinced themselves to see something that wasnt there
yes, the QB lust which is what I said.

A lot of teams have the QB lust.

and they do evaluations, but its also how players are interviewed and sold. Thats the agents job.

Anyone think HIS AGENT been telling him he would never fall to the 2nd?

yeah, pretty much. If my agent said Id be going that early Id probably be pretty pissed too. You have to trust your agent....he seemingly dropped the ball.

If his agent told him he was a lock for the 1st and had him and his fam go to NY, then yeah he should fire him for not being honest with Geno.

If his agent didn't market him properly and caused him to fall in draft choice, yeah he should also be fired.

However, most people will just read the headline and assume the kid who hung his head on draft day is refusing to take responsibility. Tough situation for Geno.

To your first sentence, you're dead on. If his agent misled him and gave him a false sense of value which led to the day 1 embarrassment, then he totally should have fired him. (I believe this is what happened)

To the second thing, no player should expect their agent to market him at that point. If you're the highest ranked QB in the draft, that should market itself. I don't think this is the case

So according to the coli, Geno Smith is a bum and isn't that good. But you have people who actually study film and played high level football saying he will be a beast. I can tell there are alot of nikkas in here framing their opinion off of SportCenter propaganda.

I have never heard anyone call Geno a beast or glowingly praise him.

His best review is good qb, solid starter and his worst is complete bust. The market tells you what you're worth, he wasn't worth 38 other picks.

:what: Geno is that good. Your really going be pissed because I am bring this shyt up like I did to @mastermind about RG3. I watched the tape. Geno is the best pure passer I've seen out of college. I didn't see Marino as a rookie so I don't know about him but Geno is an amazing passer. I will put some coli bucks on it.

getting drafted isnt about who is good or bad, but about how you are sold.

Blaine Gabbert went 10th when he wasnt projected to be a first rounder by the end of the season, FFS.

Christian Ponder was seen as a second rounder until right before the draft.

Someone may have dropped the ball, and it may have been his agents. Especially with these thirsty for a young franchise QB teams.

That dont mean he good, its just being real.

Ehh it's debateable. Teams are all throwing up smoke screens for what they're true intentions are up until the day of the draft. We as fans don't know what these teams are likely to do no matter how well an agent sells his client to potential teams. Plus this was an underwhelming draft for offensive talent...Geno going in the 2nd round was probably where he was supposed to go...just b/c mock drafts had Geno going in the first round means nothing

Ron Jaworski Says That Geno Smith Will Be A Star In The NFL And Likes What The Eagles Have Done In The Early Stages Of Free Agency

And Gruden said he is a first round pick, which doesn't usually translate to a player being trash.

Big ego.

Seriously, I'm sure his agent did all that he could to get him touted as a high draft pick. He can't control what coaches/GMs/owners are planning. It's not that nobody wants him in the first round, it was that teams had other considerations to backfill. Geno is a moron.

But, EJ Manuel did get drafted in the first round so big ups to his agent for doing a fabulous job.

I'm not even going to be like many of the clowns in here and act as if I know the inner workings between an agent and a potential first round player like some in here.

None of us know why he fired his agent. Neither does the Mike whatever his name is whose opinion some in here are dikk riding as their own facts.

:heh:
